* The NOLA 2008 pictures have been updated (without the pesky server issue).  Also, pictures of the Sousa Band performing at the McHenry Mansion 150th Anniversary celebration are now online too.

* The 3rd Annual Rodney Richardson Tribute will be on Sat. Nov. 15 at 7:30 at the Barkin' Dog Grill, 940 11th St. in the heart of Downtown Modesto.  Ernie Bucio's Little Big Band will again be performing the music of Count Basie in addition to the works of Duke Ellington.  Featured vocalist will be Michele Richardson, daughter of the late bassist. Richardson, who passed away a few years ago, was bassist with the famous Count Basie Orchestra for many years during World War II.  He joined what has been generally regarded as the greatest swing rhythm section of all time, replacing the great Walter Page when he left Basie.  Rodney had up until that time been playing with the person regarded by many to be one of the greatest, if not , the greatest jazz piano virtuosos of all, Art Tatum.  Some of the other legends of American music he performed with are Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Illinois Jaquet, Roy Eldridge(at Carnegie Hall), and Duke Ellington.   In his later years, he remained out of the spotlight but continued playing all over the country.  He moved to Modesto in the 1990's to live and perform with his daughter and grandchildren, and played many a gig throughout the Central Valley, playing with Clark Terry, Mike Vax, James Moody, Deck Hogin and Ernie Bucio's Little Big Band. He held court at Verona's Ristorante in the McHenry Village playing in a jazz combo for about 2 years before his health deteriorated  and he passed away at the age of 88. Paying tribute to Rodney are his friends and family in the hopes of keeping his spirit and memory alive. Admission is free.  For reservations call 572-2341.

How's it goin'?! Ernie Bucio here, just wanted to welcome you to the website. The idea is for the website to help facilitate your planning and decision making process so that your event is a special time to be enjoyed.  If you should have any questions, do not hesitate to email or call me, even if it is just to say "Hi!".  We have been playing music for a long time and helping to make events such as concerts with a performing artist, background music or dance music for a wedding, a little more memorable.  We truly are blessed to be able to do what we love and share it with so many others during the last 35 years.  Here's to another 35!   Catch ya later!  ~  Ernie
